Trip to the Windy City
About a year ago my older brother moved to Chicago…
Last Summer our family took a trip to visit him. It was my first time in Chicago. Normally, I am not a city gal, but once we got to Chicago I fell in love with the charming little neighborhood he lived in.
Day 1:
We took a super early flight directly to Chicago so we could get there in the morning and have a full day of exploring.
For lunch we went to a casual local bar and grill in Wrigleyville called Toons.
After lunch we took a little walk to explore and found ourselves at Wrigley Field (Home of the Chicago Cubs).
After our walk in the blistering sun we decided to stop for a quick cup of coffee at Bombastic coffee (seriously too yummy).
Day 2:
We woke up early and took the Metro to downtown Chicago wohoo.
Our day started by touring Loyal University. We then took a quick pit stop at the famous Portillo’s.
We eventually made our way to the Bean which was a super cool experience and definitely a bucket list item (highly recommend going if you have time).
Day 3:
Woke up and went to brunch… which never disappoints. My dad got the Nutella crepes… they were to die for.
We then took an architectural boat tour of the city (note to self: bring water… it was scorching hot out).
After the boat tour we decided to try a Chicago classic- deep dish pizza. I have never been so impressed with food before. It was like a pie full of cheese and sauce #heavenly.
Day 4:
We woke up, grilled out, and got ready for the Chicago Cubs baseball game.
The baseball game was one to remember. It was too much fun.
After the game we went to grab an iced coffee before dinner.
For dinner we went to a cute little Mexican place (the margs were too yummy).
In the evening we couldn’t help ourselves so we made our way to Dairy Queen for tiny blizzards.
Day 5:
Woke up early to go on a walk and explore.
Boarded our flight back to FL… Till next time Chicago.
Hope these little bits & pieces from our Chicago trip are beneficial to you and your future travels.
Love from the Sunshine State,
Abby
